Adoption Home Study
Toni Said:
anyone know if nevada adoption home study requires a drug screening required? We Answered:
People here tell me it's the birthmothers who are all drug addicts, not the prospective adoptive parents! Silly meI don't know love, and I wouldn't worry about whether they do or not so long as your conscience is clear LOL

For an adoption home study do you have the childs room all set up at the time of the home study? We Answered:
The social worker will only require that you have a room that is safe and can be set up as the baby's or child's room but it need not be furnished now. You will, however, need to show the financial ability to care for the child. Be prepared to answer questions like will you send him to daycare or stay at home? how many hours will you work? etc...Mike Said:
I'm looking for an adoption home study checklist ...?We Answered:
http://www.dhs.state.mn.us/main/idcplg?I…http://forums.adoption.com/becoming-fost…
The first is a checklist for Minnesota. The second is a question on an adoption forum about the home study and different individuals explained what they had to do for theirs. Not a check list but somewhat informative.

How do I get a home study for adoption in Korea? We Answered:
my dad was stationed in Korea for a year... although we never discussed this particular thing? military (the way I was raised) takes care of their own...! it is how I was raised, what I know... my father CO was who he would talk about as who he went to for answers or things that needed doing... and if he had no answers?(which was usually the case ;) he would be able to point my father in the right direction..... your base resources "should" be able to assist better even than the embassay....good luck

How much does it cost to get a home study through a adoption agency? if i want to do it thourhg th state ...?We Answered:
Generally there are no costs if it is done through the state. There is a required set of classes that must be taken (in some states called "PRIDE" classes and in others "MAPP" classes) by all potential adoptive-through-the-state parents, as well as foster parents. The home study is part of the class and is only finished if you make it through the entire class.Usually adopting through the state is free if the child is older, or has special needs. If the child is an infant or toddler, there will likely be legal fees to pay unless you first were a foster parent and had developed an emotional attachment to the child (which usually means, legally, that you've had the child in your home for at least 6 months).
To get started on it, look in the phone book for an adoption agency or for child protective services (or whatever they call the social services agency in your state). They may refer you to some other agency, but they should be able to connect you with the proper people. In our area, they'll start by inviting you to a meeting at which they'll talk about what's involved and find out, after explaining the options thoroughly, whether you are interested in adoption only or might be interested in foster care, too. Then they'll let you knwo when the next series of classes are scheduled.
Good luck.

How much does an adoption home study usually run?We Answered:
That depends what state you are in and if you want a homestudy done for a domestic or international adoption. Fees can vary from $500 to $2000 depending on these factors. Call a few social workers your lawyer can recommend and ask what they charge. The homestudy is really just a report on your family. For us, it was just answering questions about our marriage, family, background and the adoption process. It's really not that bad at all. Good luck!
Georgia Said:
Can someone please give me a general overview of the home study for adoption? We Answered:
While the home study process is always slightly different from area to area, the link below contains some pretty good info on how things are in one area which should be similar enough in yours to put your mind at ease.
