South University online? What do ya'll think about it?

We Answered:

Although CalIntercontinental is DETC accredited, NOWHERE on their website OR in their catalog do they state that fact, which I believe is required by DETC.

Ok that said..... Yes, South University is fairly expensive, but their parent company is very sound fiscally, and it has vast resources and a decent track record. As for less than 12 months, sorry.... noone promises that. Impossible. not according to any accreditor.

Try Capella, Colorado Technical U, even American InterContinelnal, all of which are regionally accredited.

Capella or Northcentral University for Phd in IT Education?

We Answered:

Teaching what? And in which college?

If your goal is to become a professor at a university, tenure track, then an online PhD of any type will not get you there. Nor will a PhD from a for-profit school like Capella. The rep of where you get your PhD matters hugely. Big time. Be cautious.

If your goal is to teach at a for-profit and/or online school like U of Phoenix or Capella, then an online PhD may very well work for you. But depending on what level you plan to teach, so might a simple masters degree.

No matter what, your masters or PhD needs to be in the subject you plan to teach at the college level. Specifically in that subject. So if your goal is to teach in an education department, that's one thing, but if your goal is to teach in computer science, then IT Ed won't get you there.

Is DevRy good for online education?

We Answered:

DeVry is an excellent school. Contrary to the belief of the person above, it is NOT an online school. There are over 75 locations across the country and they are 75 years old. For students from 3 year degree programs like yourself there is a transitional program and then you can go on to the master's.

However, you can take your courses online. Many military and execs who travel find DeVry a great benefit.
