Nursing Technical School

Major difference between acquiring a nursing degree from a university VS a technical school? We Answered:
You can get a nursing degree from a technical school as long as you still get the same EXTENSIVE CLINICAL TRAINING IN A HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT. I've heard horror stories about people who get their bachlor's in nursing from that sheity PHOENIX University. I forget the exact details, but basically, the students NEVER STEPPED FOOT in a hospital. They did all their clinical training at day cares and nursing homes. THAT is not acceptable. When they went into job interviews, the first question they were asked, "Do you have any hospital experience?"The answer: "none."
Needless to say, none of these women have been hired; their degree is worthless; and they're considering a law suite against Phoenix University.
You just have to be weary. The bottom line is, some technical schools will give you worthless degrees in nursing like this. If you're not being exposed to hospital environments, you will not be accepted to a Masters program for nursing anywhere.
Community colleges are more respectable and will give you good education and this is the route thousands of non-traditional nursing students pursue successfully.
Traditional 4 year universities are even more respectable, but the level of education they provide will be more expensive and yet, on par with a community college.
If you're not interested in prestigue, (like getting into a Masters of Nursing program at Harvard or something), then I'd recommend the community college route. It's less expensive and much quicker, usually.
Be VERY wary of tech schools.
A good rule of thumb is to stay away from "for-profit" colleges and universities. Their degrees are worthless too much of the time. Always go to a "non-profit" school.
Sorry about all my typos; just thinking about Phoenix University makes me angry... lol... anyways... I wanted to make sure that you knew that you must obtain a bachelor's in nursing before you can apply to a Masters program.
At a tech school and at a community college, you typically ONLY take nursing classes, and you get your bachelor's in two years. Then, the Masters program is one or two years more.
At a university, you have to spend 4 years to get your bachelor's in nursing, because the first two years, you're just like a normal student taking normal classes. Then the last two years, you have to be accepted into your school's nursing school, where you will then start taking nursing classes for your last two years.

How could I become a registered nurse? How many years in school? and what prerequisites do i need?We Answered:
You cannot go to school for 1 year and be an RN. There is usually a 1 year program for people that are already LPN's. The nursing classes are spread out over at least 2 years. Some 2 year schools offer diplomas and some 2 years are Associates. There are also 3 years associates, it just depends on the school and their order of classes. Just b/c it is 2 years doesnt automatically mean it is an associates degree (ASN).Make sure the school is accredited with a Middle States Accredidation for Higher learning if it isnt actually a college already, and is a technical/vocational school
They require General Ed classes. Clinical Math, English Comp, A & P 1 and 2, Nutrition, Sociology and Microbiology are the usual ones, and it all these classes in ADDITION to your Nursing classes, which includes your clinical hands on portion..
Good Luck!! Nursing Classes are usually competitive andmay be hard to get into depending on your location!

So in HS i went to a technical school. Became a Certified Nursing Assistant and then EMT. Lately I have been?We Answered:
Try one of the ancillary fields where the patients come and go such as x-ray technician, radiation, ultrasound. For just a little bit of attachment, how about physical therapy assistant.Jared Said:
Should i got to a Technical College or a University after high school? We Answered:
I think you need to decide what you really want to do before you make this decision. HVAC is very different from Registered Nursing. Which occupation will bring you the most happiness? Think about both, and what you like to do, and your skills and abilities, and try to decide which is the best fit. A pro/con list might help.I don't know where you're from, but if you're in the US, you can go to tech school for Registered Nursing, work as a Registered Nurse for a few years, and then go to university for a program to get a Bachelor's degree to advance in your field.
Before you decide anything, go to both the tech school and the university of your choice and sit down with the financial aid officers. There may be loan opportunities, grants, scholarships, work study and other things you don't know about that could help you to pay for college.
Tuition is usually slightly less at a two year college or tech school, but where I live (Minnesota), it's not much less. When you make those appointments with the financial aid officers, they can tell you about tuition and fees.
