I'm very sorry about one of your parents having passed away and the situation that you're in. Apex tech sounds like a private $$ school, and it's really not necessary to pay such a high price for education especially if low on funds (like myself too :) Please do instead consider the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) as long as it's accredited within the industry.

Perhaps there is also an apprenticeship (on-the-job) program affiliated with the union available albeit the program may take up to about five years to complete. I believe that there is an admissions test, and it also helps to know someone in the union ;)

Im under the impression that welders are in demand in general - there are more and more people like myself who are giving up physical jobs for office ones - so yes welding is in demand and you could certainly make a tidy salary.
